Bergamo is a beautiful city very close to Milan (good for at least one day trip to get out of the city). I flew there from Poznań and had one day to wander around in Citta Alta (the upper and historic part of Bergamo).
Walking around Bergamo is like stepping through time and finding yourself centuries ago. It seems like nothing has changed here since the city has been build. Old houses and stone paved streets with little outside interference it seems. No McDonalds or any other modern shops (and if there are they are hidden). It is easy to imagine life of people who lived here hundrets of years ago. You can see the Citta Alta in one day, eat delicious pizza and have some time to sit in the main square, just relax and watch people going about their buisness and sightseeing.
